Smokin' Memphis Evening - Dinner & Movie
Description of Donation: |
Join us for an evening inspired by the smokin' food and music of Memphis. After a delicious barbecue dinner (with vegetarian options), we'll settle in to watch "Take Me to the River," a lively documentary that brings together generations of Memphis and Mississippi Delta musicians to celebrate the inter-racial, blues-infused soul music of Memphis in its heyday (Booker T & the MGs, Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, Rufus & Carla Thomas, the Staple Singers, Eddie Floyd, Wilson Pickett, Al Green, and more). As legendary Memphis musician Charlie Musselwhite says in the film, we'll "make some noise and have some fun doin' it." |
