[9:00am] “Nature Forward “garden walk“
- Description of Donation:
- Join us for a stroll through wooded areas and rolling meadows at the Nature Forward gardens of Woodend Mansion (previously called the Audubon Nature Center) in Chevy Chase MD. This is a great opportunity to hike around the mansion, surrounding woods, and meadows while enjoying many fall blooming native trees, shrubs, and perennial plants. Parking is limited – so CARPOOLING IS ENCOURAGED. We should see lots of birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. The property has many rain gardens and other water conservation features – for those of you who may want ideas for controlling stormwater run-off on your property. After the hike, we will provide a picnic brunch.
Each bid is for an individual.

[6:30pm] DRAMEDY AND DINNER AT CLYDE’S DINER
- Description of Donation:
- Clyde’s, a new play by two-time Pulitzer-Prize winner Lynn Nottage, has been described as a razor-sharp comedy centered on a truck stop that offers its formerly incarcerated kitchen staff a shot at reclaiming their lives. Even as the shop’s tough-as-nails owner tries to keep them under her thumb, the motley crew of line cooks are given purpose and permission to dream through their shared quest to create the perfect sandwich.
We can’t promise the perfect sandwich, but we’ll supply good eats and drinks, play scripts of Clyde’s, a friendly director, and an apartment at Riderwood to put together a cast for Nottage’s dramedy of 10 actor-readers, a truck-stop style dinner, and a good discussion after our in-person play reading on Saturday, October 21 at 6:30. As before, our casting policy is racial- and gender-flexible and all roles will be double cast.
