Join us for an all ages trip to the Hirshhorn Museum of Art, the only Smithsonian Museum dedicated to contemporary art. We’ll meet at 10am and walk around till noon; optional to stay afterwards, wander to other museums nearby, or grab lunch either at a food truck or elsewhere. Metro accessible. Robin Moore Lasky will be your very informal guide. There is no agenda for which shows we will see; bring your interests and curiosity. Masks/distancing or whatever guidelines allow. Located on the DC National mall, admission is normally free.

Enjoy the critically acclaimed film, “CODA”, the coming-of-age story that follows a hearing teenage girl who is the child of deaf adults (CODA). Her parents and older brother are Deaf. This film provides a glimpse at the bicultural and bilingual issues that occur as well as the love that holds this family together. “CODA” has been nominated for many awards, including the upcoming Golden Globe for Best Picture. We’ll provide a big-screen TV and snacks and beverages. There will be time for discussion following the film. We will follow the UUCSS safety guidelines, and reschedule if the original date proves to be too risky for safely gathering. Each bid is for one person.

An introduction to Amaro, an Italian digestive, or alcohol infused with secret blends of roots, herbs, and spices, that transforms cocktails, opens palettes, improves health and will blow your mind. There are hundreds of kinds of amari that vary from sweet holiday spice to bracingly bitter flavors. Each one is surprisingly different with layers of smells and flavors to unpack. In this one hour tasting, we will sample five amari, ranging from Campari, the most well known, to more rare and unusual styles. We will explore their flavors, origins, and how to use them in cocktails.

Explore the beauty of the natural world in the D.C./Metro area. We will drive to a local park/river/lake in the early afternoon to spend about 3 hours in nature. You can choose to hike quickly, slowly, hike all of the trail or just part of it, or spend your time sitting by the water or in the woods writing, reading, sleeping, standing on your head, or staring at the trees. Trail snacks will be provided.

Join in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day by performing in a play reading of “Outside Mullingar” by John Patrick Shanley on Saturday, March 19 at 6:30pm. The evening will culminate in a corned beef and cabbage dinner with Irish-inspired spirits. Each player will receive in the mail a copy of the play to keep. This will be an in-person event unless church Covid guidelines require us to meet virtually. Last year’s play reading took place via Zoom to great success, and eats were individually delivered.

“Outside Mullingar” is a four character play that we will be double-casting.
